Zilch vortical effect for fermions

چکیده

We consider the notion of zilch current that was recently discussed in literature as an alternative helicity measure for photons. Developing this idea, we suggest generalization systems fermions. start with definition photonic chiral kinetic theory framework and work out field-theoretical fermionic using Wigner function formalism. This object has similar properties to is conserved non-interacting theory. also show that, full analogy a case photons, acquires non-trivial contribution due medium rotation - vortical effect (ZVE) Combined previously studied ZVE these results form wider set effects parameterized by spin particles current. briefly discuss origin ZVE, its possible relation anomalies underlying microscopic application studying polarization media.

(Non)-renormalization of the chiral vortical effect coefficient

We show using diagramtic arguments that in some (but not all) cases, the temperature dependent part of the chiral vortical effect coefficient is independent of the coupling constant. An interpretation of this result in terms of quantization in the effective 3 dimensional Chern-Simons theory is also given. In the language of 3D, dimensionally reduced theory, the value of the chiral vortical coef...

A Localized Approximation Method for Vortical Flows

An approximation method of Moore for Kelvin-Helmholtz instability is formulated as a general method for two-dimensional, incompressible, inviscid flows generated by a vortex sheet. In this method the nonlocal equations describing evolution of the sheet are approximated by a system of (local) differential equations. These equations are useful for predicting singularity formation on the sheet and...

Topological Methods for Visualizing Vortical Flows

The paper describes the application of topological methods to the visualization of vortical flow patterns that arise in simulations from Computational Fluid Dynamics. Two techniques are presented: the first is concerned with the exploration of complicated, instantaneous flow structures while the second one permits the visualization of their temporal evolution in large-scale transient simulation...

The Casimir Effect for Fermions in One Dimension

We study the Casimir problem for a fermion coupled to a static background field in one space dimension. We examine the relationship between interactions and boundary conditions for the Dirac field. In the limit that the background becomes concentrated at a point (a “Dirac spike”) and couples strongly, it implements a confining boundary condition. We compute the Casimir energy for a masslike bac...
